Google recently added Vancouver to Google Transit. This is extremely useful, as Translink‘s own trip planner is so bad as to be almost unusable. However, one of my friends noticed something which I thought was rather amusing…
The system appears to think it is possible to walk on water.

they seem to have corrected it. now it tells you to “Arrive WB Robson ST NS Granville ST” and then walk – over land, like us ordinary mortals.

TomTom GPS has the same problem – the bridge across the river a quarter mile from my home doesn’t seem to exist on the walking route planner, so the unit takes me on a two mile diversion up or downstream to cross an 8-lane A-road block bridge to the West or a six-lane arch bridge to the East…
